This study investigated mathematics achievement disparities in Grades 4, 8, and 12 using NAEP 2019 data. Disparities persisted across various sociodemographic groups, except gender. Excellence gaps widened at Grade 8 but narrowed by Grade 12. Notably, the percentage of students reaching the advanced level decreased in Grade 12 for all groups. These findings emphasize the need to address equity in U.S. schools to reduce achievement disparities and improve academic outcomes for all students, highlighting the importance of targeted interventions and support.
