The purpose of this study is to understand teacher recruitment and retention challenges, the interventions districts undertake to recruit/retain teachers, and human resource directors’ perspectives on the utility of those interventions. The North Carolina Local Education Agency (LEA) Human Resource Director Survey was available online for the lead personnel administrator for each of the 115 LEA’s in the state. In this exploratory analysis, a series of logistic regressions found significant differences according to several correlates with the likelihood school districts utilize certain strategies. This has implications for school districts’ decision-making in whether to continue, end, or begin certain teacher recruitment and retention efforts.
