Individuals need to adapt to changing professional environments due to severe changes in the world of work. Using evidence from job ads supports stakeholders and individuals by providing rich and current data to back up their career decision-making. An analysis of N=170 job ads investigates (i) potential career opportunities for business educators and (ii) corresponding competence requirements. Results show that occupations for HR management, business organization and strategy, and in computer science are most frequent. The most relevant competencies are (i) work experience e.g., as coach, (ii) interpersonal orientation, e.g., teamwork, and (iii) conscientiousness, e.g., organizational skills. The results give insights for business educators’ career planning and allow professional development regarding a compelling skill set for certain jobs.
