How can educational researchers site youth ethnographies in High-Opportunity neighborhoods in the United States? To answer this question, I offer the case selection process I used to site my current ethnographic project about youth experiences in one of the highest opportunity neighborhoods in rural America. I argue that we should follow three steps to study cases of High-Opportunity: 1) use the Opportunity Atlas to compile the universe of possible cases for our ethnographies; 2) create indices to locate High-Opportunity cases; and 3) conduct online and offline evaluation to assess potential High-Opportunity cases for ethnographic study.
