Abstract

Achieving educational equity starts by ensuring that every student is taught by an effective teacher. This study examines the impacts of a Teacher and School Leader Incentive Program grant on teachers’ instructional skills and student performance in high-need schools implementing the TAP System for Teacher and Student Advancement. The TAP System provides a supportive environment for teachers and students to improve performance. Findings reveal improved instructional skills among teachers retained during the grant period. Instructional skills improvements were more apparent among teachers who were not effective in the first grant year. These improvements in instruction were accompanied by increased student achievement. Findings suggest that the TAP System builds teachers’ instructional skills, ensuring every student is taught by an effective teacher.
