What if Black communities were as prosperous as Wakanda? What if every Black student was cared for and entire schools and communities were invested in their success? Focused in the unique context of Staten Island, NYC, this small study sought to learn about the hopes, dreams, and realities surrounding Black student thriving by engaging in storytelling with the backbones of society- Black women. Drawing on traditions of storytelling and informed by endarkened narrative methodologies, the author focuses on Motherwork and communal care as two critical findings to begin to construct a vision of Black student thriving.
