Rural Definition Triangulation (RDT) is a new concept that supports the credibility and transferability of rural education research within the United States. RDT is achieved by using multiple methods to define rural space in qualitative research, including government definitions, participant definitions, site descriptions, and personal descriptions. This version of RDT includes a matrix in which rural scholars and students align their rural definitions with several options to improve the credibility and transferability of their work.
