Quality Assurance Frameworks and Online Learning: An Investigation of Faculty Perspectives, Experiences, and Recommendations for Improvement

Fri, April 12, 9:35 to 11:05am, Philadelphia Marriott Downtown, Floor: Level 4, Franklin 12

Abstract

Over the years, dozens of quality assurance frameworks have been developed, like Quality Matters, to evaluate, legitimize, and ideally improve online learning. Researchers have investigated various aspects of these frameworks; however, very little research has been conducted on faculty perceptions and experiences of these frameworks and accompanying rubrics. Despite the increased adoption and use, some faculty continue to resist quality assurance frameworks. Given this continued resistance, we investigated faculty perspectives of quality assurance frameworks. In this session, we describe the results of our inquiry to better understand faculty perceptions of quality assurance frameworks, how they are currently using them, and how the frameworks might be revised and/or adopted and used more in the future.
