Due to the benefits of family involvement in students' reading and math learning, there is potential for literacy-infused science education in informal settings. Literacy-focused activities assist students in learning science and enhancing their vocabulary because the language of science frequently stops pupils from understanding the subject matter. Aligned with the Texas content standards and curriculum, eight Family Involvement in Science (FIS) activity kits were created on Earth science to encourage family engagement in fourth-grade rural students' science learning in informal settings. We assessed how families perceived FIS experiences by integrating surveys. Surveys were used to gather family members’ perceptions of their experiences while engaging with the FIS kits.
