Enrollments for graduate school have continued to grow in the past 10 years with over three million students enrolling in postbaccalaureate programs annually (National Center for Education Statistics [NCES], 2022a). The increase in diversity and completion rates are encouraging; however, they remain low for minority students, especially compared to their White student counterparts. This study explored the issues of disproportionality of success rates for program completion in one teacher preparation program. A specific focus on Black female students’ experiences and perceptions were explored. Findings revealed that highly credentialed Black students in a graduate program have lower graduation rates and higher dismissal rates than their White peers and the program overall. Institutional implications for dismantling institutional racist structures are discussed.
