Interdisciplinary approaches towards exploring history may unearth opportunities for students within visual art and music degree programs to: a) develop their own ideas about featured works and their creators; b) connect works across arts disciplines; and c) develop a better understanding of self as musician and artists as well as future educators. The purpose of this self-study of teacher education practices is to examine and improve the approaches to presenting and designing curriculum for music history and visual art history courses using interdisciplinary approaches as well as examine the experiences of music education majors participating in these projects.
