Abstract

This study explores the implementation of digital citizenship lessons in educational settings. The research aims to uncover the teachers' perspectives on the importance of digital citizenship, challenges they encounter during implementation, and the concerns they have regarding their students' digital well-being. This phenomenographic study examined high school teacher perceptions of digital citizenship and its curriculum. I conducted semi-structured interviews with six high school teachers that indicted the teacher participants felt a responsibility to teach and prepare students for the pitfalls of digital life; however, each participant had a different view of what digital citizenship is. Participants shared their experiences and concerns that they have about both students and the curriculum that is used to teach digital citizenship.
