This research examines the potential of generative AI tools, like ChatGPT, in democratizing education and enhancing learning experiences of diverse students. Conducted within a Liberatory Writing Across the Curriculum fellowship, it integrates decolonial pedagogy into psychology education. Using a survey, the study measures ChatGPT's impact on skill development and recognition of diverse knowledge. Findings suggest ChatGPT improves academic outcomes, especially for students with caregiving responsibilities and those working over 20 hours weekly. The study indicates that AI tools can democratize education, providing personalized, accessible learning experiences for diverse students. It contributes to the discourse on AI in education, and suggests future research on AI tools' long-term impacts and potential to further decolonize education.
