Although there is a growing body of research on campus racial climate, few studies have attempted to look at how racial and ethnic groups perceive the campus racial climate for a group other than their own. This study examines the effects of parental racial socialization on outgroup perceptions of campus racial climate (CRC) and the effects of perceived CRC on well-being at predominantly White institutions, using multiple regression moderation and mediation analyses. The first pathway examines the effect of students’ perceptions of campus racial climate on well-being, mediated through sense of belonging. The second pathway examines the effects of parental racial socialization on perceptions of campus racial climate, mediated through racial/ethnic identity and ethnocultural empathy.
