Developing racially equitable leaders has been an element of leadership preparation that has recently gained traction. The nuance of racial equity and the many interpretations of it have required researchers and practitioners to design multiple frameworks to prepare aspiring leaders. We analyzed ten leadership frameworks provided by higher ed preparation programs or private educational organizations to understand How leadership preparation frameworks develop racially equitable leaders? We drew on Huber et al.,’s (2020) Critical Content Analysis. We found that most frameworks did not include themes that emerged from the literature review conducted by Leithwood (2021). We also found that as we applied the best practices identified by Leithwood (2021), it became difficult to "see" anti-racist and equity-oriented leadership. Implications are discussed.
