Thu, April 11, 2:30 to 4:00pm, Pennsylvania Convention Center, Floor: Level 200, Exhibit Hall A

Abstract

This study aims to determine students’ perception of AI ethics concerning a generative AI, ChatGPT. A total of 77 undergraduate students were asked to participate in a survey related to five AI ethics categories: beneficence, non-maleficence, autonomy, justice, and explicability. The results reveal that the most significant concern regarding ChatGPT was the fear of losing autonomy due to the overuse of AI technology. Additionally, beneficence and non-maleficence were also highly valued in terms of AI ethics. Furthermore, specific themes were found in each of the five AI ethics categories based on open-ended questions. The findings provide meaningful guidance for educators in developing AI ethics guidelines.
