I take on the overlooked task of uncovering social bases of several important kinds of self-respect in an unjust society marked by injustices such as racism, sexism, and economic and social inequalities. I then provide arguments for the political priority and urgency for securing self-respect for all. Capacities for robust self-respect should be considered as a crucial kind of educational goods in Brighouse et al. (2018)'s framework of educational decision-making. This paves the way for my arguments on the role education and more specifically, schooling, can and should play in providing social bases of self-respect. In the end, I highlight various aspects of schooling that decision-makers of all kinds and levels in education have reasons to pay special attention to.
