This paper examines the experiences of campus staff of color. Through a theoretical framework of racialized organizations, institutional responses, metamorphic liberation, and carework, this qualitative study explores the experiences of 24 staff of color. Findings illuminate the importance of supervisorial and management cultures, nuancing how these manifestations differ from institutional care. In doing so, this study offers practical considerations in reimagining labor within higher education, and ways to intentionally reconstruct what it means to care for campus careworkers.
