Foreign-born faculty are an essential part of today’s U.S. higher education institutions. Past research has established that foreign-born faculty’s experiences differ from their domestic colleagues in large part due to linguistic and cultural differences, affecting feelings of isolation, belonging and stress. This project takes this area of research a step further by exploring how foreign-born faculty’s experiences can inform scholarship surrounding the complex relationship between race, language and nationality.
