Appearance and Impact: Disability Services, Racial Cognizance, and Black Students

Abstract

Collective care demands we assess the espoused institutional awareness of (and purported commitment to supporting) Black dis/abled students in Disability Support Service (DSS) offices. To begin, we put a critical discourse analysis of the University of California DSS websites in conversation with the narratives of Black and Brown UC Students to to investigate indicators of racial cognizance.
