This paper explores the possibility that self-efficacy through self-appropriation may move teachers through the daily grind of data collection, information delivery, and mundane planning to makers of meaning and values. By looking at data derived through the senses and data of consciousness, teachers can verify their instructional operations to determine what is valuable. Initial data results show that self-efficacy is a complex and contextual operation that needs further exploration and a recasting using the "generalized empirical method (GEM).
