This research study explores the impact of faculty mentorship within the Bunche Fellows Program (BFP) on the development of Black college students and their aspirations for higher education beyond the undergraduate level. The BFP, a multi-tiered academic pipeline program, aims to increase the representation of Black and underrepresented students in graduate school and higher education careers. Through content analysis of BFP evaluation reports and a published book chapter, the findings highlight two themes: professional mentoring and building connections and relationships. Black undergraduate students report gaining valuable insights and knowledge from their faculty mentors, influencing their academic and research skills. Mentorship fosters diversity in higher education and creates an inclusive environment where Black students can thrive and succeed.
