Fri, April 12, 4:55 to 6:25pm, Pennsylvania Convention Center, Floor: Level 100, Room 111B

Abstract

Artificial intelligence (AI) is one of the fastest-growing subfields of computer science. Therefore, it is important for youth to learn about AI both in school and in informal settings because this knowledge could enhance youths’ problem-solving abilities. However, since AI is often taught at the college level, there is a dearth of understanding regarding how to teach high school-age children about AI. Hence, this paper discusses the findings from a study that examined high school students’ learning experiences with the AI summer camp. The findings showed that students could understand AI concepts and reported gaining knowledge about AI applications by participating in this summer camp.
