Charting the Course: Strategic Planning for Knowledge Mobilization in Research-Intensive Universities (Poster 37)

Thu, April 11, 2:30 to 4:00pm, Pennsylvania Convention Center, Floor: Level 200, Exhibit Hall A

Abstract

This paper investigates the strategies, frameworks, and tools utilized by Research Impact Canada (RIC) member universities to plan and implement knowledge mobilization (KMb) initiatives. Applying a tripartite theoretical framework and an environmental scan approach, it analyzes the KMb planning resources of these universities. The study reveals a growing but still unfamiliar area of strategic planning, an attention to both impact planning and assessment, and a synergistic relationship with other institutional strategy documents. Findings contribute to the understanding and optimization of KMb planning processes, aiming to enhance universities' societal contributions, including efforts to address racial injustices through research-based knowledge that informs inclusive policies and practices.
