This paper theorizes the potential of minority-led subcultures as third spaces of sovereignty. Third spaces of sovereignty are the resistive social formations Indigenous and disenfranchised peoples actualize when they refute colonial domination and demand recognition of their rights and lifeways. The Native American heavy metal band M.I.S.'s artistic and social practices are examined to demonstrate how third spaces of sovereignty spark movements for educational liberation and justice.
