Given the potential for significant changes brought about by chatbots, it is necessary to clarify the mechanisms, relevant research, practical applications, and future development of chatbots in education, while making adequate preparations for their limitations and challenges. However, there are currently few studies that systematically review the application of chatbots in education from a macro perspective. This research attempts to combine bibliometric analysis and umbrella review methods to jointly analyze the current research status of educational chatbots. Bibliometric analysis is to systematically review the previous 1126 studies, in order to identify current hot topics, trends, and networks in this field. The umbrella review is to systematically organize past systematic literature reviews, meta-analyses, and reviews, with some questions being highlighted.
