Let’s Talk! Future Educators Dialogic Literacy Practices

Abstract

In our qualitative study of three future educators, we ask the research question: In what ways do future literacy educators’ identities, cultural competence, and critical consciousness, shift and apply throughout the literacy experiences? We analyze the ways future educators (both preservice teachers and international graduate students) experience these literacy activities: book clubs with literature discussions, the creation of a historically and culturally responsive text set, and one literacy strategy lesson and demonstration.
