Curricular Emergence: Relational Noticings That Matter

Abstract

This proposal draws upon adrienne maree brown’s Emergent Strategy (2017; 2021), her online blog (www.adriennemareebrown.net), and her social media Instagram posts (@adriennemarreebrown) to critically reflect upon our relationship to the world and with others. The purpose of this proposal is to situate Emergent Strategy’s core elements (fractal, adaptive, interdependence and decentralization, non-linear, iterative, resilience and transformative justice, and creating more possibilities) within a curricular lens and conceptually exemplify a critically reflexive analysis that embraces the interdependent nature of who we are in relation to others.
