Abstract

Educational systems across the globe, by default and by design, undergo constant state change, evolution, and transformation. Recognizing the need to adapt to the demands of the 21st century while also shaping preferred futures, educators, policymakers, and other stakeholders are actively engaged in transforming educational experiences and practices through top-down policies and bottom-up responses to emerging needs. We present the concept of synchronization to better understand these processes of change and transformation and identify the concepts synchronization and synchronizability as key constructs to refer to properties of coordination and alignment of efforts between and within systems of education worldwide. This paper delves into the significance of synchronization for educational systems and explores conditions for collaborative endeavors to co-construct educational possibilities.
