The reality is that students seek academic support as a prerequisite to being a college student, but as educators we forget the importance of holistic support. For Latinx students in particular, holistic support is what raised us. We were raised among villages that provided us with emotional, mental and familial support. These students then step foot on campus and realize that that isn’t the case here. This paper aims to review what supports these students have utilized in the past, expanding on pre-existing supports, and what it looks like to ask students what supports they are seeking. There will be a heavy emphasis on looking to the students as knowledge producers, shifting that role away from staff and faculty.
