This systematic literature review employed the PRISMA model to examine doctoral education in Latin America from 2011 to 2021. Seventy-one articles were analyzed using descriptive statistics and qualitative analysis. Most publications focused on policy issues, followed by academic programs, outcomes, and student experiences. The review offers a comprehensive understanding of doctoral education in the region, illuminating key research developments. It provides insights into the field of higher education and can inform future research and policy in Latin America. The study highlights the realities of LA doctoral education's diverse cultural, political, and racial contexts, highlighting disparities in resources and opportunities between the Global North and the Global South.
