In Poster Session: The Tapestry of Spirituality and Education
This paper delves into the transformative potential of Indigenous ways of knowing pedagogy in decolonizing healing education. It highlights the impact of colonization and capitalism on reshaping concepts of happiness and well-being from Eurocentric perspectives. By examining ancient healing philosophies like Sufism and Daoism and embracing Indigenous insights, the study emphasizes authentic well-being and healing. It sheds light on "peace" and "happiness" as vital components seen through Indigenous healing approaches, contributing to a sustainable and harmonious relationship with the Earth. Incorporating Indigenous ways of knowing in pedagogy fosters inclusivity, cultural sensitivity, and transformative approaches to well-being, urging a reorientation of understanding to honor Earth's interconnectedness and diverse cultural knowledge systems.
