If there ever was a time in history in which responsible educational leadership was desperately needed it is now. As the world attempts to recover ‘post-Covid’ and the United States (US) simultaneously attempts to address “the single most dangerous terrorist threat in our homeland” white supremacy (Ewing, 2023), the need for culturally responsive instructional supervisors (CRIS) has grown exponentially. There must be a collective agreement to intentionally develop critical consciousness in CRIS to redress the deeply embedded hegemonic ideologies that both the US and its educational system have been built upon (Author, 2021a). This proposal focuses on the potentially transformative role of professional development anchored in critical theory can have in supporting the development of critical consciousness.
