The Impact of the CREATE Residency Program on Early Career Teachers’ Well-Being

Fri, April 12, 4:55 to 6:25pm, Pennsylvania Convention Center, Floor: Level 200, Exhibit Hall B

Abstract

This work examines the impact of CREATE – a teacher residency program centered around justice and equity. We examine impacts and findings related to the well-being and retention of early-career teachers. We are specifically interested in analyzing the impacts that issues such as moral injury and burnout have on teacher retention. Preliminary findings suggest a positive impact of CREATE on mediators that may help inform our understanding of moral injury in an education setting. To this end, we seek to examine in what ways CREATE programming promotes teacher well-being while also insulating against moral injury.
