In this proposal, we want to open the space for trauma to be defined, named, challenged, and inquired for the purpose of “ teaching and engaging with intersectionality as a paradigm” (Queer Studies SIG, this Call) via our lived experiences as Việt, queer, immigrants, refugees, and scholars. Drawing upon critical refugee studies (Espiritu, 2014), queer pedagogy (Britzman, 1995), and feminist refugee epistemology in the arts (Espiritu & Duong 2018), we propose kể chuyện as queer methodology to create a safe and decolonizing space for brave and critical conversations, individual and collective healing with the participants. Through kể chuyện, we offer an embodied lived queer pedagogy through our queer lives and invite a Việt traditional way of thinking and being.
