Sat, April 13, 9:35 to 11:05am, Pennsylvania Convention Center, Floor: Level 100, Room 103C

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine Indigenous student perceptions of the challenges, successes, and impacts of college affordability on student success and collegiate outcomes. In this study two instruments were developed to examine the effect of college affordability on student outcomes. The first instrument’s purpose was to examine college affordability experiences of previous scholarship recipients and the second instrument’s purpose was to examine current scholarship recipients’ college affordability experiences from the National Native Scholarship Providers. Some of the measures we examined were: cultural experience, budgeting, food security, negative budget impacts, caretaking responsibilities, life delays, and giving back.
