With the rise of awareness regarding mental wellness across the country, the current study sought to begin measuring the current state of music educators’ mental wellness. Music educators across the United States (N=757) self-reported indicators of depression, anxiety, stress, and job satisfaction. According to the results of this study, music educators enjoy their jobs, but find little time to engage in a personal life beyond the classroom. Music teachers reported high perceived stress levels. Regarding mental health, 56% of respondents initiated the Level 2 questions for depression with ~ 45% exhibiting moderate or severe depression; 65% of the respondents initiated Level 2 questions for anxiety with over 69% showing signs of moderate and severe anxiety.
