Nuancing Rurality Using Critical Realist Grounded Theory and Journey Mapping

Thu, April 11, 10:50am to 12:20pm, Pennsylvania Convention Center, Floor: Level 200, Exhibit Hall B

Abstract

Research methods used to highlight rurality, broadly, dilute practices in discrete rural communities. Quantitative Geographic Information Systems methods and qualitative case studies and ethnographies tend to focus on deductive approaches for approaching rurality. This paper positions critical realist grounded theory and journey mapping as methods that capture rurality inductively.
