In recent years, a growing conversation has emerged regarding the need for expanded world language (WL) teacher leadership in the United States. The purpose of this qualitative study was to examine the perceived impacts of one national WL teacher leadership program, the Leadership Initiative for Language Learning (LILL), on 11 previous program participants. Through qualitative analysis of the interview data, two themes were identified representing the ways in which the teacher leaders experienced the impacts of LILL: (1) as a space dedicated to leadership inquiry and development, and (2) as a system of support and empowerment for language teacher leaders. Implications for practice and future research are discussed.
