One of the many lessons of the pandemic, especially regarding technology, was that we were not ready. Teachers faced challenges of how to meet the needs of students and deliver academic content in genuine ways remotely, and many confronted the added challenge of virtually facing students who were unprepared to navigate learning in this way. Schools that served high populations of marginalized and low-income families were more likely to face these challenges of access. We can do better. The teacher’s role is increasingly important in technology integration success. This study used a quantitative approach to understand teacher technology use. Especially for districts serving large marginalized, underserved, and low-income populations, improving technology integration will improve access and opportunities for students.
