The COVID-19 pandemic has changed our ways of teaching and learning in the past few years. The purpose of this study was to identify 392 middle students’ motivational profiles (i.e., self-efficacy beliefs, value, and achievement emotions) in online learning environments. The latent profile analysis showed that four distinct profiles emerged: Moderate Profile (i.e., moderately high control and value, moderate positive emotions, moderate negative emotions), Negative Profile (i.e., moderately low control and value, low positive emotions, moderately low negative emotions), Less Positive Profile (i.e., high control, high value, high positive emotions, moderately high negative emotions), and More Positive Profile (i.e., high control, high value, high positive emotions, low negative emotions). Research findings provide theoretical and practical implications for online instruction.
