The education field has numerous challenges, most of which have been present for decades. One such phenomenon is the nationwide shortage of teachers. The shortage of Black teachers in schools has historically been an issue that has been prevalent within the mainstream as well. The deeper issue, however, is the meager percentage of those Black teachers present being male. The purpose of this study is to understand the experiences and the impact of Black male educators. Preliminary results suggest that Black male educators are passionate about serving as lead teachers in the classroom while building community and a positive representation of Black manhood.
