The Universal Design for Learning (UDL) Guidelines were developed in 2008 as a tool to support practitioners in applying the UDL framework to design inclusive, accessible, and challenging learning environments. While there has been growing momentum around UDL, there has also been an increasing call to more fully develop the Guidelines to address critical barriers rooted in bias and systems of oppression. In response, [Organization] launched a community-driven process to update the Guidelines through an equity-oriented lens. As part of this process, this study examines participants’ feedback for more fully developing the Guidelines to design equitable and just learning environments. Findings focus specifically on participants’ ideas for updating the guidelines for Representation and Action and Expression.
