In this paper, we aim to fill a gap in the broader educational research by conducting a systematic review of the literature on the use of social network analysis (SNA) in education research. We examine the utilization of SNA in education research, including SNA main analytic approaches, theoretical frameworks, and research themes. The study highlights the scarcity of SNA studies on race issues in educational contexts and emphasizes the need for further exploration. In addition, this paper makes a unique contribution to the literature on systematic reviews because it uses SNA not just as a focal point but also as a powerful methodological tool for summarizing, interpreting, and understanding relationships within bodies of research.
