Thu, April 11, 10:50am to 12:20pm, Pennsylvania Convention Center, Floor: Level 200, Exhibit Hall A

Abstract

This review x-rayed how early childhood teachers can be supported in implementing STEAM in early childhood classrooms. This review evaluates, synthesizes the study designs in a methodical manner. Research techniques, and research findings of 26 articles related to this germane issue published from 2012 to 2022. The findings of the review indicate that ECE teachers experience pedagogical and curriculum challenges, student concerns, and a lack of teacher support. ECE teachers also said they needed more training and professional development for classroom practices. ECE teachers' perceptions about STEM are reasonably favorable, self-efficacy and confidence are rather low. The review recommends ECE teachers to be equipped with the 21st century pedagogical and curriculum materials to bolster STEAM teaching and learning since STEAM.
