The curricula in many teacher preparation programs center whiteness, making it difficult for preservice teachers of color to see themselves in the teaching profession. The authors utilized open educational resources to diversify representations of teaching in an introduction to education course. They then utilized instrumental case study to explore how students represented teaching as a profession in their assignments. Findings suggest that despite the instructors attempts to diversify representations of teaching as a profession in curricular resources, students’ visual representations of teachers were overwhelmingly white, and the predominant characteristics students utilized to describe the types of teachers they want to be centered niceness.
