In our study, we investigate (1) trends in the prevalence of bias based bullying against Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) youth, overall and by ethnic subgroups, in California from 2015-2021; and (2) how their school contexts relate to bias based bullying. We analyzed data from seven waves of the California Healthy Kids Survey. Biased based bullying declined over time for Asian American youth; however, it increased for certain subgroups (e.g., Laotian American youth). Students with higher levels of support and connectedness at school had lower probabilities of experiencing biased based bullying (-.03; p <. 001; -.08, p < .001, respectively). Altering schooling conditions to promote stronger staff-student relationships alongside school connectedness hold considerable promise in protecting Asian American youth.
