This systematic literature review aims at reviewing empirical studies that investigate K-12 students’ performance in digital reading practices in the United States. Four themes emerged after analyzing 31 key studies: 1) different perspectives of digital reading, 3) patterns in performance, 3) an interdependent web in process, and 4) disconnection across contexts. Findings shed light on the exceptional role of digital reading in literacy education and student literacy development.
