The testimonio is a revolutionary tool that is rooted in narrative practices of prose and poetry that placed into record accounts of oppressed peoples and their communities throughout Latin America. While various traditions exist, testimonios are most often presented as a hegemonic practice in education research literature that is largely absent of Central America as a critical site of development of the testimonio.
This paper is an epistemological form of resistance that recognizes the historical significance of Central American testimonios through a conceptualization of the Transisthmian Testimonio Methodological Framework that is applied in response to humans rights abuses, is explicitly political, and is grounded on three relationalities of solidarity: (1) the testimonialiste, (2) the witness-researcher, and (3) the reader.
