Guided by the perspectives of gay Latino collegians, this qualitative study examines notions of femmephobia within the queer community, the various ways it is manifested, and the effects it has on gay Latinos. Because femmephobia is not an outgrowth of the LGBTQ+ community, connections to systems of oppression are made. In-depth interviews reveal that there is notable femmephobia experienced by gay Latinos at varying levels. Implications for practice are offered, which are especially relevant to higher education practitioners as they look to support students in a time when the queer community is under attack at local and national levels.
